Support the Magic of Play on Giving Tuesday
Doctors are prescribing it. Researchers are lamenting its demise in modern society. Philosophers from Plato to Nietzsche tout its many benefits. And no wonder. Play is the work of childhood.
Play is so important to child development that it has been recognized by the United Nations as a right of every child. The Academy of Pediatrics reports that play allows children to develop their imagination and literacy skills, as well as physical coordination and strength. It improves children’s social skills—helping them learn to share and resolve conflicts.
Yet despite the abundant evidence, the space, time and resources for play have diminished.
You’ve likely seen this in your own neighborhood—active play among children has plummeted by 50% over the last 40 years, and an average of four and a half hours a day is spent in front of a screen. The world of play and wonder is shrinking for children and families in modern culture.
That’s why places like Fairytale Town are so important to children, families, and communities.
Since we opened our gates in August 1959, Fairytale Town’s mission has been to promote the imagination, creativity and education of children through play. Fairytale Town is uniquely qualified to do this—not just because our programming ties play to early literacy, or because of the 250,000 guests we serve each year from all walks of life—but because Fairytale Town is magical!
From the moment you walk under Humpty Dumpty’s miniature bridge, you’ve entered a place where your imagination ignites!
Children run, explore and climb playsets that bring classic fairytales to life. It’s where as a parent, you share the tale of Jack defeating the giant—just as your little one conquers their fear of going down that steep slide for the first time.
We need your help to keep the magic of play alive at Fairytale Town!
With your support, we can make needed upgrades to our beloved playsets and facility so we can better meet the demands of our growing, diverse community—and keep our facility as magical today as it was when it opened nearly 60 years ago.
We are asking you to make the most generous gift you can give so Fairytale Town can continue to spark children’s imagination, inspire their creativity, and stimulate their interest in reading and learning.
As one of our donors told us, “When you give to Fairytale Town, you’re giving to the future development of children, from an imagination standpoint, from a creativity standpoint, and from a literacy standpoint. Given where we are in the world today, I think that’s more than worthy of a donation.”
By giving to Fairytale Town, you can make a difference for children in our community.
