The Three Little Pigs

The brick house that withstood the wolf’s huffing and puffing is now home to three Kunekune, pronounced “KOO-KNEE, KOO-KNEE” pigs. Native to New Zealand, Kunekune means fat and round in Māori. The Māori, are the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand.

Pua, the pig from the Disney film Moana, was modeled after a Kunekune pig.

Pigs are some of the most intelligent animals, as the fairytale about them suggests. Come see them and their little brick house today!

Farmer Brown’s Barn

Visit our new Cow that Jumped Over the Moon and Eeyore, a miniature Sicilian donkey. Complete with a two-story spiral slide and a farm display, the Barn area is also home to Charlotte, a goliath bird-eating tarantula, Templeton the Rat, and during Spring, a family of freshly hatched chicks.

eeyore

Eeyore is the melancholy character from A.A. Milne’s classic tales about Winnie the Pooh. Our Eeyore is a miniature Sicilian donkey who often surprises guests with his loud braying. Eeyore often comes out of his pen for up-close animal introductions.

Maddie, the Cow that Jumped Over the Moon, is a miniature Scottish Highland calf. This breed is unique for their small size, two coats of long wavy hair and gentle nature. She resides in Farmer Brown’s Barn next door to Eeyore the donkey.

Chicks2012

The Little Red Hen House is home to a family of chickens hatched in Farmer Brown’s Barn. Incubating eggs are hatched inside the barn every spring at Fairytale Town. If you listen carefully, sometimes you can hear the Fairytale Town Rooster, crowing a big hello to children playing in the park. The chickens you see with him are a variety of breeds. There are over 200 breeds of chickens divided into 3 groups: meat, eggs and ornamental. Right now we have a White Leghorn, Mottled Java, a Silkie and others. See how many you can identify at Fairytale Town on your next visit!

In October 2014, the exhibit spaces in Farmer Brown’s Barn were revamped and expanded to include an observation beehive, beekeeping tool display, and a wall of amazing arachnids.

Templeton, the rat, joined our barnyard family in late 2017. Like Charlotte, the spider, Templeton is another character from E.B. White’s classic children’s book, Charlotte’s Web.

Owl’s Tree House

Climb to the top of the tree house, home to Pooh’s wisest friend, then take an exhilarating ride down the corkscrew slide.

The Crooked Mile

There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile,
He found a crooked sixpence against a crooked stile;
He bought a crooked cat which caught a crooked mouse,
And they all lived together in a little crooked house.

The number-one, all-time favorite set of park visitors, this winding path provides a tenth of a mile of exercise and fun.

The Old Woman in the Shoe

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children, she didn’t know what to do;
She gave them some broth without any bread;
Then kissed them all soundly and put them to bed.

oldwomanshoe

The fastest, tallest slide at Fairytale Town and an iconic landmark of the park for decades.

Mary’s Little Lambs

Two beautiful Southdown sheep live in the schoolhouse where Mary brought her lamb one day. Their names are Pepper (Ram – black wool) and Salt (Ewe – white wool).

At this set, children learn that sheep provide us with lanolin and wool by examining their fluffy white and black wool. The oily coating you feel when you pet sheep is lanolin, a moisturizing oil often used in hand lotions and soaps. Our sheep are sheared once a year at the annual Sheep Shearing Day event, and their thick wool is cleaned and spun into yarn on an old fashioned spinning wheel right before your eyes!

New Lamb

Salt and Pepper welcomed a lamb on Wednesday, May 8, 2019! She weighed 6.2 pounds. Both mama and baby are doing well! She’s already grown to almost 7 pounds. You can see Salt, Pepper, and the lamb on exhibit starting today! The lamb’s name is coming soon!

King Arthur’s Castle

The seat of royal birthday parties at the Round Table of legend, this is one of the original structures at Fairytale Town. It features a maze-like entrance, vibrant murals of Queen Guinevere, King Arthur’s Guards and Merlin the Magician.

Humpty Dumpty’s Bridge

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again.

Since opening in 1959, Fairytale Town has welcomed families from all over the world through Humpty Dumpty’s gate into an enchanted realm.
