Obstacle racing…it’s hip, happening, and promotes overall fitness in a fun atmosphere!

This September, obstacle racing comes to Fairytale Town, serving as a fantastic warmup for October’s Dignity Health Dirty Kid Obstacle Race at the Sacramento Adventure Playground, or for anyone who simply wants to run over, through and under Fairytale Town’s iconic play structures.

Get your phones ready – this is a photo-worthy event!

Race is for ages 4-15. Ages 4-5 will race over about a quarter mile with about 10 obstacles. Ages 6-15 will race about a half mile over approximately 16 obstacles, with both races including water wading and bubbles (there is no mud obstacle at this event). Racers will be placed in age groups (“waves”) at 9:00am.

FEES:
Each racer will receive a Fairytale Town Family Pass for 4 (includes racer). Additional spectators must purchase admission to Fairytale Town.

T-SHIRTS
Dignity Health Dirty Kid Obstacle Race t-shirts are available for $10. Youth sizes are Small-Medium and adult sizes are Small-XL. The shirt is the same for both September’s Fairytale Town race and October’s Sacramento Adventure Playground races, and are available while supplies last.

OBSTACLES
Obstacle racing is considered to be safe. It does involve crawling, over/under obstacles, and moving on uneven surfaces. This race will include entering and wading through water (about 6-8″) and going through bubbles. Obstacles are designed to be age appropriate. Runners may skip any obstacle. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to help. No parents on the race course. There is no mud obstacle at this event (for that, see the October races at Sacramento Adventure Playground!).

WAVES/STARTING
This race will be conducted in “waves” of up to 12 runners. The next wave may start with runners still on the course. Races for each age division will not start prior to the times noted below. Runners should be at the registration table at the entrance 30 minutes prior to their race time.

Ages 6-7 – 9:00am
Ages 8-9 – 9:10am
Ages 10-15 – 9:20am
Ages 4-5 – 9:30am

AFTER THE RACE
Enjoy Fairytale Town up until 5pm. Portions of the park will be closed during the race, with the full park estimated to open around 9:45am. The southwest portion of the park will open after clearing the Ages 6-15 course on that side of the park.

AWARDS
There is no timing or awards for this event. The October races at Sacramento Adventure Playground will have timing and awards.

CANCELATIONS
This is a fundraiser supporting the Sacramento Adventure Playground (powered by Fairytale Town). As such, and within race tradition, there are no refunds.
