Readers Cast Their Vote for Fairytale Town

It could be the three-dimensional play sets, the dynamic theater performances or the super special events. It might be the friendly farm animals or the creative learning gardens. We think it has something to do with the people who visit the park! Whatever it is, Sacramento News & Review readers and area residents have spoken! This year, Fairytale Town received the Best of Sacramento Readers’ choice Award in the Arts & Entertainment category – Best Children's Entertainment Venue.

Each year, the Sacramento News & Review comes out with their special Best of Sacramento edition, with over 300 categories are awarded. This is the second year in a row that Fairytale Town has received this award.

2007 Fun & Fundraising

Fairytale Town fundraisers are fun, but each event also supports Sacramento’s most enchanting place - Fairytale Town! The funds raised help support park programs and facilities improvements.

More than 2,000 guests attended the summer fundraiser, Crystal Midsummer Night's Dream & Ice Cream Fantasy at Fairytale Town on Saturday, June 30, 2007, enjoying a cool evening of enchanting entertainment and over 450 gallons of delicious Crystal ice cream. This special ice cream social and fairy festival raised nearly $45,000 to help support nonprofit Fairytale Town.

Later in the year, 136 golfers braved the rain and enjoyed a day on the links for the Fairways to Fairytales Golf Tournament on Friday, October 12, 2007 at Teal Bend Golf Course. The tournament champions were the father/son team of Oscar Johnson, Jake Johnson, Tim Wier and Jordan Wier. But the biggest winner was Fairytale Town, with this tournament raising over $30,000.

Thanks to all who helped make the 2007 fundraisers a success!

New Play Set to be Built at Fairytale Town

Fairytale Town plans to break ground on a brand new play set: The Yellow Brick Road. This exciting new play area will wind through William Land Park and will pave the way to Humpty's gate. "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" has delighted generations of readers; Fairytale Town's Yellow Brick Road will do the same. At Fairytale Town, dreams really do come true!

City of Sacramento Invests In Fairytale Town

The City of Sacramento has awarded Fairytale Town and many other civic parks and institutions with funding for capital improvements through a bond. Fairytale Town will receive $500,000 to replace the chain link fencing around the park with wrought iron fencing, resurface walkways within the park and make other general repairs. The projects are currently in the planning stages and construction will begin in 2007. To learn more about getting involved or to serve on the planning committee, please call (916) 264-7060 or email us.
