Children's Theater

Children's theater programming at Fairytale Town introduces students to live theater in a safe, lively and child-friendly environment. Groups can enjoy a variety of performances designed specifically for children Pre-K through 4th grade and learn the vocabulary of theater. Students are encouraged to participate in call-and-response with the performers and are often invited to help create the performance itself. Performances subject to change.

Two weeks advanced reservations is required to qualify your group for the discounted rates and guarantee Fairytale Town entrance.

Annual Puppet Festival
Take a break from self-led playtime with our puppet shows, featuring shows performed by Puppet Art Theater. All shows are in our Children’s Theater and are an additional $1 with paid park admission, or discounted group rate. The Puppet Festival is available Wednesday - Friday, May - June 2009. There is a 100-people maximum for this program; sorry, no exceptions!

Storytelling Series
Compliment your curricula with our children’s Storytelling Series. Watch local children’s storytellers perform on our outdoor Mother Goose Stage. Performances are free with park admission, or discounted group rate. The Storytelling series is available Thursday - Friday, September 5 - 28, 2008.

Theater Festival
All the world is a stage during our Theater Festival, featuring live performances by local children’s theater companies. Performances will be on our Mother Goose Stage or in our Children’s Theater, and performances are free with paid park admission, or discounted group rate. The Theater Festival is available Fridays, September 5-28, 2008.

Fairytale Town Troupers
Calling all Young Actors! Fairytale Town wants YOU!
All the world’s a stage, including Fairytale Town! Sacramento's favorite land of enchantment is announcing the formation of the Fairytale Town Troupers, a new repertory company that will produce live theater on the Mother Goose Stage using local young talent, ages 10 to 14. The group will perform three original productions throughout the summer: a classic fairytale, a folktale, and a Shakespearean adaptation.

The roles have been cast and rehearsals are under way. The three productions this summer will be:

SNOW WHITE & ROSE RED - opens Saturday, June 14
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM - opens Saturday, June 21
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HUMPTY DUMPTY! - opens Saturday, June 28

All productions will be directed by (Mr.) John Lee, an Elly Award winning Director, Playwright, and Theater Arts Educator, specializing in Family Entertainment.
