Board Member Expectations

FRIENDS OF FAIRYTALE TOWN, INC.

General Expectations

• Enthusiastically support and embrace Fairytale Town's mission, vision, goals, policies and programs.
• Suggest possible nominees to the Board who are people of achievement who can make significant contributions to the work of the Board and to Fairytale Town.
  Serve a minimum of one three-year term up to a maximum of three three-year terms.
• Participate in Board activities.
• Be an advocate for Fairytale Town in the greater Sacramento community.
• Volunteer to complete tasks as requested by the Executive Director.
• Be accountable for what you promised to do.
• Accept leadership responsibilities.
• Honestly and respectfully engage in open communication with members of the Board.
• Make sure that Board meetings are focused on the right issues and business.

Meetings

• Prepare for and participate in Board and committee meetings which each meet at least once a month.

Fiduciary Responsibility

• Act as a fiduciary with respect to Fairytale Town's finances and fiscal decisions.
• Be committed to the role of the Board as one of governance.

Avoiding Conflicts

• Avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest with Fairytale Town and disclose any potential conflict immediately to the Board.

Fundraising

• Make a minimum annual gift of $200 or more to Fairytale Town.
• Understand and participate in the Board's leadership role in fund development.
• Assist the Board in implementing fundraising strategies.
• Provide names of potential donors to Fairytale Town.
• Make phone or personal calls to potential donors to Fairytale Town.
• Participate in all fundraising events.
• Sell at least ten tickets to the annual fundraising event.
